Expensive Campaign!

Sarah Palin’s power look doesn’t come cheap. At least not if you want to believe the numbers published by the Republican National Commitee (RNC). The Republican vice president has allegedly bought clothes and jewlery for $150,000 since she was chosen to stand by McCain. Going through the Democrats’s list, no such numbers have occurred.

Palin’s first shopping spreas were in New York and St. Luis where she spent close to $49,000. In September alone, the RNC spent $4,700 on hair and make up. These big expenses have now been questioned by critiques who say that the money for Palin’s apperance should be taken from her own account and not from the Republican Party’s. To this, the Republican party says that it was ment for the clothes to go to charity after Palin had used them. All of these number were found under a new category in the statement from the RNC called “Campaign accessories”.

Looking even more closely, it also looks like the entire Palin family have gotten makeovers. Palin’s baby boy has gotten clothes from Pacifier for about $300 and her husband has gotten men’s wear for about $4,900 from Atelier.

This might seem as small numbers if you compare them to how much it actually takes to become President of the United States, a staggering $15 billion. Not bad since McCain spends about $1.5 billion a month and Obama spends about $2,5 billion a month. Most of the money goes to TV commersials, personnel, and travel. Even changing a sports area to an arean for a political event can cost up to $630 million. Until last week McCain had raised about $177 million while Obama took the lead with $401 million.

So there you go. Some numbers on the upcoming election! How would you spend all that money?
