AMF!
In these troubling times of major downfalls in the ecomony, with the government trying hard to bail the gulity ones out, what would be better to learn about than the American Financial history? I think it’s both relevant and (possibly) quite interesting.
The Museum of American Finance, which is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institiution, opened earlier this year at 48 Wall street, down in the Financial District in lower Manhattan. It’s located in the former headquartes of the Bank of New York (only a block away from the New York Stock Exchange), and the museum occupies over 30,000 square feet of space which features a majestic banking hall, a state-of-the-art financial education center, an auditorium, a library, and research facilities.
Some of the permanent exhibitions include subjects on the financial markets, money, banking, and entreprneurship. While this might not sound too interesting to you, it’s something that I’m finding more and more interesting. It’s not only what I’m studyong right now, it’s highly current, and my boyfriend is in Finance, so I’ll definately drag him there as I know he’d appreciate that. It’s open everyday between 10-4 and wil cost you only $8. A little less for me as students and seniors only pay $5.
