Powerful Ads!
Alright, I’m sure you had it up to here with all my talk about Sweden and how great all Swedish thing are, and I promise I’ll stop one day, just not this day. No, nothing about Abba, nothing about Ikea, nor nothing about H&M (which by the way is much better in Sweden than here in the US).
Doing research for my Advertising & Promotion class, I had to find I ad that I think is good and one ad that I think is bad and it couldn’t be a tv-commersial. It had to be a printed ad. So I thought to myself what make a good ad. Colors are essential. You can’t possibly have a good ad without bright, well coordinated colors. The other thing I thought about was that an ad needs to be short and precise. If you put the ad in a magazine, chances are that people will just flip through it, and if you have a lot of text or hard-to-understand pictures people will not get the message. You need to keep it short and to the point so that the reader gets it right away.
Now, to tie this up with the Swedish theme I started in the beginning, I’ll tell you, and show you, which ads I chose for my class assignment, and then you can tell me if you got the message right away.
I am of course talking about the Swedish Vodka company ‘Absolut Vodka’. These are just a few of their billiant ads to promot Absolut around the world. Being a bartender, I can tell you that Absolut is the only vodka not flavoured with any artificial ingedients. It’s the only vodka that’s entirely flavoured by all natural fruits and ingredients. Nice, huh?
These ads are, in my book, some of the best ads out there! They are clear, to the point, easy to understand, and, last but not least, funny. They make sense and almost tell you a story without any text. All you get is the funny, relevant picture, the vodka bottle in the corner, and the ‘Absolut World’ tekt in the fore ground. You don’t need anything else, you so get it! Right? I love the fact that their ads are current and relevant, that makes it even more appealing, and together with being funny and looking good, I think that these ads are excellent!
