Attic Fanatic!
Apartment serarching myself has made me very interested in other peoples’ apartments and who my friends live. So let me tell you about some different ways of living in New York.
Kodak moment for today was definately when me and my friend crawled along Canal street trying to drag her enormous suitcases to her new apartment. What wasn’t so funny about the image was that the rain was pooring down. I mean, it was raining cats and dogs. She really picked the right day to move, let me tell you. I don’t think I’ve ever been that wet. She’s found her self a room in an Attic apartment on the very cool address of Canal and Broadway (downtown/chinatown). The area is full of artists, models, musisicians, and, of course, chineese people.
Her room was one of 4 bedrooms with a huge livingroom/kitchen just outside their doors. Everyone have their own room and share a bathroom two and two. A pretty good solution if you don’t mind living with other people. Her room was definately big enough to fit her own couch if she wants to entertain herself, but her roommates seemed really nice so hopefully that won’t be a too big of a problem. Please don’t think that her room looks anything like the picture above, because it does not. Not at all! All I know is that having a room in an attic/loft apartment allows you to get a lot of light from all the windows everywhere, and pulling up the fact that you live with other people, in her case, comes from the great location. As we’ve learned about living in New York: it’s all about location!!!
If she puts some love and care in to the room, it could definately look something like this as she’s got a loft bed.
Those things are damn smart and will for sure go on my `smart-decorating-tips` list. What do you think about loft beds? Thumbs up or thumbs down? Anyway, I know she’ll make it work and put the final cozy touches on the place, and i can’t wait to see the final result!
