Fashion Week, day 1!

The Mercedes- Benz Fashion Week, spring 2009 has officially begun. Bryant Park has been invaded by glamour people, designers, and hungry celebrities looking for the free goodiebags. This first day is, on paper, one of the strongest days with designers like BCBGMAXAZARIA, Nicole Miller, and Venexiana showing their collections. Not bad, huh?
Personally, I’m looking forward to Alexandre Herchovitch (saturday), Peter Som, Jill Stuart (both on Monday), Matthew Williamsson, Monique Lhuillier (tuesday), Philip Lim, Anna Sui (wednesday), Custo Barcelona, Zac Posen (thursday), Badgley Mischka (Friday).
Now don’t get me wrong, I’d go to any show invited to, no question about it, it’s just that you always have a couple of personal favourites and the ones listed above are my.
This Fashion Week is aslo specialt in the sense that they’re not only promoting the actual fashion week, but also lifs out and pusches people to get involved in the upcoming presidential election. They incourage people to get involved and make a difference which I think is great. Fashion Week is one of the most press- covered events of the year so it’s great that they manage to get some politics in to it. They’re no supporting any particular candidate, they’re just reminding you that election is coming up and that you need to participate. Great way for Fashion Week to be even better. Not that I thought it could be done
Some of the locations where all of the fab collections are being shown are of course the Promenad which is located in the main tent in Bryant Park. Then there’s the show room inside te Public Library, the Salon, the Tent, and all the other various locations for the designers’ own show rooms. You could say that the entire coty is involved. That’s what I’d like to think anyway.
Have found my new apartment by the way but will tell you mor about that later… now: got to go. I’m actually headed up to Bryant Park to see what I can see (!)

Later!
