Yesterday, I saw one of the greatest movies ever, “Garden State“. For those of you who didn’t know, New Jersey is actually the Garden State like New York is the Empire State. Anyway, watched it for the first time and emideatley fell in love. A movie with and by the brilliant Zach Braff (JD i Scrubs). He has also made the movie “The Last Kiss” which I know have to see. Staring opposite him is the beautiful and very talented Natalie Portman (think she was in the Starwars movies). In my book, she might very well be one of the most talented and touching actresses right now. I particularly like her performance in “Closer” (Julia Roberts, Jude Law, and Clive Owen).

The movie is rouchly about Braffs character going back home to New Jersey because of a family insident. There he meets the beautiful and somewhat odd girl portraid by Portman. We get to follow them for a couple of days as Braffs departure day is getting closer. We also get to see what his longtime friend takes them on a journey to find, an heirloom if you will.

It’s an incredibly easy movie to watch and isn’t nearly as “deep” and “heavy” as you might think. Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s still deep and heavy in it’s own way, not just in that “I-can’t-stand-another-minute-of- this-movie-deep”. It’s a beautiful and sweet movie which I think everybody should see. It’s so nice.  

And one more thing before you go. The music and soundtrack of this movie might have been the best ever. Without exaggerating! Songs by Zero 7, Coldplay, the Shins. Simon&Garfunkel, and Bonnie Sommerville. If you have the opportunity, get it! By it, download it, copy it from a friend, Whatever. Get it and listen to it and you’ll understand what I’m talking about.
