These boots are made for walking…

Published by josephine2222 at 11:33 am under Places Edit This

and that’s just what I’ve done today. Walked! Walked and walked and walked. Went for a long walk with a friend who I haven’t seen in a really long time, which gave us enough time to get into the long talks that we have. I’m really going to miss my freinds when I leave, and the worst thing about leaving is that I (already) feel like I should have spent more time with each and every one, including my family. That sucks big time! What’s really not good about being home for just two weeks is that I try to see everybody at once, and don’t realize that a coffee break takes more than 20 minutes, so it has come to the point where I have to cancel stuff with some people in order to make room for someone else and it hurts. It’s hurts having to rescheduele appointments when you’d already made plans to do something. I feel really bad and wished there was a little more time.

Anyway, the walk today was exactly what I needed. Being sick and all, the fresh air was good for me. We walked the famous rout “Djurgårdsvarvet” around the island of Djurgården, in the middle of Stockholm. It’s a very pretty island with an amusement park, a zoo, many museums, countless restaurants, and coffee places. When the weather allows, you can walk the island for hours. There are both marked walk-paths as well as smaller tracks in the wood and as far as I know, everything on the island is protected by some old culture law so that you can’t pick up the flowers or demolish certain things. If you come here at the wrong time, chances are you’re going to be surrounded by millions of tourists and children, but as a born Stockholm girl, I know which ways to avoid and which ones are more secluded. Thank God for that. As you may have noticed, tourists are not my favourite thing in the world, and maybe that’s why I try to stay away from Times Square at busy hours. I actually try to stay away from Times Square at all time, but sometimes it’s not possible, so I try to go when I think there are fewer tourist (which itself is an impossibl thing since there’s always a lot of tourists there).

Here are some pics from beautiful Djurgården:

The bride to get over to the island.

It truly is an oasis in the middle of the city, kind of like Central Park in New York!

    …just a twoliner…
next time you are out walking, say hello to Patience and Fortitude, two very good friends of mine in NY.
    …also I read this some where…
..one should see the NY skyline before one dies…
    I totally agree…

hahah okay I’ll make sure to do that. You can count on me. I’ll even bring them back to Boston with me next time I come up!
I guess I agree too, but does it count when you’re in a taxi from outside of new york and see the entire island as a whole?

….actually….from any angle you can see the skyline is permissable…as you always get a different perspective, but still impressive…
…also I do believe you will find it hard to bring my two friends along…the NY Public Library really would not like you to remove their prize Lions,Paitence and Fortitude, from outside the entrance…
…but on the other hand, you may definitely bring those two virtues along….in spirit …as they surely will stand by you ,all your life…where ever you go and do…
…so how come you are not having this miserable weather we are having up here in the North…92 today and rising…
    …definitely a Simon and Garfunkel day…Slip Sliding Away…

Oh I didn’t know we were dicussing the lions, but I get it know. I was thinking of the virutes you later described, and those I can bring.
the weather is actually better today than it was yesterday and hopefully I can bring that with me for the weekend.
    See you soon!
